"Proceedings of the State Natural History Museum" continues the tradition of the first periodical scientific edition of the museum - "Rozprawy i widomosci z Muzeum im. Dzieduszyckich" and the previous issues of Scientific Notes of the Museum of Natural History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 19 volumes of which were 19 year.

The "Proceedings of the State Natural History Museum" was founded in 1951 by the State Museum of Natural History of the NAS of Ukraine. In the periodical printed scientific professional edition "Proceedings of the State Natural History Museum" there is a certificate on state registration of the print media with national and foreign sphere of its distribution (КВ № 17872-6722Р), issued by the Ministry of Justice on 14.04.2011. ISSN 2224-025X.

Proceedings of the State Natural History Museum publishes articles on the scientific direction of "biological sciences" in specialized scientific disciplines - general and natural museology, ecology, botany, zoology, paleontology, soil science, nature conservation. Announcements of research results, as well as materials on museum activity, are published under "Short messages", "Notes", "New taxa", "Research methodology", "History of science", "Anniversary dates", "Losses of science", "Chronicle".
